Lucille Healy (Heirigs)
Lucille Mary Healy, 94, of Irene, SD passed away Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in Viborg, SD.
Lucille was born May 22, 1923 in rural Freeman, SD to John and Lena (Schweitzer) Heirigs. She attended Salem Country School and graduated from Viborg High School and attended Mount Marty College in Yankton, SD.
She married Donald Healy on October 16, 1943 at St. Boniface Church, rural Freeman. The couple farmed in the Mayfield area for many years until their retirement in 2006.
Lucille taught at Whittier Country School. She worked at Gurney Seed and Nursery for many years. Donald and Lucille moved to Yankton in 2006.
She served on the Whittier School Board. She also taught CCD Classes at St. Columba Catholic Church and was a member of the St. Columba Altar Society and a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include children; Peggy (Joe) Klimisch of Irene, Donna Jambor, Pat Healy, both of Yankton, John (Sheila) Healy of Sioux Falls, Hugh (Dee) Healy of Irene, daughter-in-law Barbara Healy of Irene, Gene "Geno" (Mary Kay) Healy of Yankton, Kevin (Charlene) Healy of Irene, also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Charles, daughter-in-law Linda Healy, sister Josephine Andersen, and her brother Lawrence Heirigs.
