Marlys Bakke (Freng)
Marlys C. Bakke, 80, of Yankton, SD passed away December 4, 2017 at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.
Marlys was born February 23, 1937, in Yankton to Carl and Martha (Hoxeng) Freng. She was the youngest of 11 children. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at Zion Lutheran Church. She attended rural school and graduated from Volin High School.
Marlys married Luke Bakke on November 15, 1958 at Zion Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in the Irene and Volin areas until retiring and moving to Yankton. She enjoyed several years in Home Health Care where she made many special friends.
Marlys loved music and enjoyed playing the piano with her family and friends. She loved the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters; Teresa (Dave) Christensen, Hartford, SD and Sandra Bakke, Henderson, NV, three grandchildren; Megan Boltjes and her mother Tami Boltjes, Platte, SD, Jessica (Darin) Koedam, Larchwood, IA, Justin (Allyssa) Christensen, Hartford, SD, three great-grandchildren; Hadley Koedam, Taylor and Connor Christensen, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Luke, son Richard, parents, four sisters; Ione Gustad, Sylvia O’shea, Edna Larson, Jean Christensen, six brothers; Maurice, Floyd, Sidney, Vernon, Chandler and Harold Freng.
