Obituary for William H. "Bill" Marcotte
It is with great sadness that the family of William (Bill) Harold Marcotte announces his sudden passing at home December 5th, 2017.
He was born October 7th, 1948 in Marshall, MN to Warren and Pauline (Henrichs) Marcotte. He was the middle son of 5 boys. Bill grew up in Marshall where he was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith at Holy Redeemer church. He graduated from Marshall High school in 1966. Where he enjoyed football, basketball and track. After high school he attended business school in Alexandria, MN. Bill enlisted into the United States Marine Corp in 1967. He served in Vietnam from 1968-1969 and was discharged in 1971. He began his lifelong career in the meat business. He retired from Hy-Vee in 2007.
He married Patricia Dirckx and they were blessed with Shana and Sam. On August 18, 1989 he and Donna met and were the love of each other’s life. They were married March 10, 1990. Donna brought Mike, Kari and Matt Knodel and became a family of 7.
Bill loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at the family cabin in Vermillion, SD. He was an avid Vikings and Twins fan and a member and officer of the Irene Rodeo Club for 26 years. After retiring he enjoyed reading, puzzles and trips to Texas in the winter.
He is survived by his wife Donna, children: Shana Marcotte of Yankton, Mike (Laura) Knodel of Hutchinson, MN, Sam (Michelle) Marcotte of Yankton, SD, Kari (Chad) Shields of Sioux Falls, SD and Matt (Landra) Knodel of Irene, SD. He was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
Bill was proceeded in death by his parents Warren and Pauline Marcotte, brothers Doug and Ted Marcotte, Henry and Gladys Chase and brother-in-law Jim Chase.
