Florence Lee Hinseth was born February 28, 1929, the sixth child of Ole and Emma (Lee) Hinseth on the family farm two and one-half miles west of Irene. She died March 3, 2018 at Scared Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD at the age of 89.
She was baptised on April 21, 1929 at Salem Lutheran Church. She was confirmed Nov. 28, 1943. She attended Turkey Valley Grade School and graduated from Irene High School in 1948.
Florence grew up on the family farm where she resided until 2004 when she and her sister Madeline moved to Irene.
As a young adult she was active in the Luther League at Salem Luthern Church and became a youth leader and district officer in the Yankton Circuit. She spent several summers teaching Bible School in South Eastern South Dakota community churches.
In her younger years, she worked as a mother’s helper for several families, helping with household duties and the care of their children especially the families of Dr. Clark Johnson of Yankton and Ernest Aune of Irene. In 1966, she became employeed at Sunset Manor as a housekeeper. She worked there until 2004, when she recieved reconigtion and apprecition for her years of dedicated service as head of housekeeping services.
She and her sister Madeline were admitted in to Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Irene, December 2017. On her birthday, Feburary 28 she suffered a stroke and was admitted to Scared Heart Hospital. She passed away on March 3.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ole and Emma, sister Madeline, brothers Sylvin, Sidney and Olin Hinseth.
She is survived by her two brothers, Arnold (Delores) Hinseth of Sioux Falls, SD, and Elton (Sharron) Hinseth of Irene, sister-in-law Ardys Hinseth, Rapid City, SD, and nieces and nephews; Laurel (Jim) Luke, Richard (Ellie) Hinseth, Barb (John) Carver, Tara Carver, Tyler Carver, Brian Hinseth (Pam Davis), Kaeliegh Hinseth, Anne Hinseth and David Hinseth and great-nephew Dan (Becky) Luke, Alex and Beth Luke.
