Obituary for Bruce Brockmueller

Bruce Brockmueller
Bruce Henry Brockmueller, 77, of Irene, SD passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Bruce was born to Archie & Marie (Bruget) Brockmueller on August 5, 1940. He graduated from Irene High School in May 1958, following his graduation he entered the U.S. Army in January 1959. He spent the duration of his service stationed in Germany, excluding his 6 weeks of basic training in Fort Hood; He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal in December of 1960, and was honorably discharged in January of 1961.
Bruce married Leone Bak on September 14, 1962. Together they raised two children, Karmen & Mark. He worked at B&E Service prior to buying Irene Standard Service where he worked until it was sold in January 2005. Bruce enjoyed spending his free time with his family camping, deer hunting and fishing in the black hills, as well as caring for the American Quarter Horses they raised. Bruce was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and was also an active member of the Irene First Responders for several years, in addition to serving 41 years in the Irene Fire Department, many as those years he was honored to be Chief. In recent years Bruce & Leone became people greeters at Walmart. He did thoroughly enjoy visiting with old friends and making new ones along the way as this was easy for Bruce being the genuine and kind man he was.
Survivors include his Loving Wife -Leone (Bak) Brockmueller, daughter, Karmen Broer (Husband -Andrew) of Yankton, son, Mark Brockmueller (wife -Courtney) of Whitesboro, Texas and grandchildren Taliyah Broer and Brim Brockmueller, two Sisters: Helen McKenna, Los Gatos, California & Betty (Jerry) Zappa, Hudson, WI, brother, John (Janelle) Brockmueller of Irene, also several beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Archie & Marie Brockmueller; brother-in-law - Ron McKenna, brother-in-law, Erlin Bak.
