Terry Harkness, 71, of Elk Point, SD, passed away May 17, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. The third son of Donald and Helen Harkness, Terry was born August 28th, 1946 in Akron, Ia. He lived in and around Elk Point, SD for most of his life with a handful of years in El Paso, Tx. He enjoyed driving truck for most of his career until he was injured, forcing his retirement. Terry was blessed with four children, Paul, John, Theresa, and James. Grandpa Terry also has 9 grandchildren, Raymond (Jayme) Frye, Dan (Kayla) Salazar, Shelby (Cody) Kiers, Amber Harkness, Brody Frye, Heidi Harkness, Jayce Harkness, Joshua (Sadie Winkler) Frye, and Chris Salazar. He also has four great grandchildren, Audrey and Jacob Schuller, Isabelle Kiers, and Rebekah Frye.
Terry is survived by his children, Paul Harkness of Vermillion, SD, Theresa (Roger) Salazar of Medford, NJ, and James (Wendy) Harkness of Vermillion, SD and his daughter-in-law Paula Harkness of Hawarden, IA, his grandchildren and great grandchildren, his siblings Ronald Harkness of Alcester, SD, Rodney (Emma) Harkness of Clint, Tx, Linda (Martin) Ferdig of Queen City, MO, and Nancy Hooker of North Sioux City, SD. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and special family in El Paso, Tx.
Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Helen Harkness, an infant brother Danny, his son, John Harkness, and special family members Joe and Olivia Fierro.
