Obituary

Leona (Seeba) Druin, age 83, of rural Volin South Dakota, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 4, 2020 after suffering from heart failure.
Leona was born November 19, 1936 at Tecumseh, Nebraska to Henry and Lena (Sinnen) Seeba. She was a 1954 graduate of Cook High School. She attended Peru State College for two years at Peru Nebraska and graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She taught school in the Shelby Iowa Public School system for three years and then the Omaha Public School system for seven years.
She married Don W. Druin on May 24, 1959. While still in Omaha, they were blessed with their two sons, Wade and Todd. They moved from Omaha to rural Volin in 1970 where they farmed until 2000.
She was employed as a Pre-school teacher and Special Education Aid in Wakonda Schools in 1984 and at the Yankton Area Adjustment Training Center in Yankton as Residential Instructor Supervisor from 1985 to 2004.
Leona was a loving, caring and giving person who had many friends. She was particularly fond of her grandsons, Isaac, Ethan, Austin, Seth, and Joel. She had the habit of bragging about them to whoever would listen (or not).
Survivors include her son Wade and wife Chris of rural Volin, SD; her grandsons Isaac, Ethan (Krista), Austin, Seth, and Joel; her son Todd and wife Chris of Sioux Falls, SD; her sister Grace Bentzinger and husband Louis of Cook, NE and many nieces and nephews.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don, her grandson Alex, her brothers Delmer, Glen, and Donald Seeba.
Because of the corona virus, a memorial service of her life will be announced and held at a future date. Interment will be in the Bluff View Cemetery, Vermillion SD.

Our deepest sympathy to Wade, Todd and your families. Aunt Leona always reminded us of Grandma Lena and we admired them both so much. Wade, I found a Christmas card from you in my Mom's belongings. My folks, (Glen and Izma Seeba) talked fondly of your boys, and "sure enjoyed them." So sorry for your great loss and that things are so crazy in the world right now due to Covid. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Kris (Seeba) and Larry Wellsandt

Deepest sympathy to Wade and Todd and families on the loss of Leona. Leona and Don and the boys were great neighbors to us when they lived in Omaha Nebraska. We have many beautiful memories of spending weekends with them once they moved to South Dakota. Leona was a beautiful person inside and out and had very strong faith in Jesus. She was one of my most precious friends and we will never forget her, Don and the boys. Wade and Todd please stay in touch. Sheila and Jim

Leona and Don were friends with my parents. I got to know Leona through them. She always greeted me with a "well how are you doing now?" Blessed be her memory.

We were very sad to hear of Leona's passing. We enjoyed her so much over the years. She had a keen sense of humor and kept us laughing with her comments about this and that in life. She was very aware of the communities in which she lived and several times went to bat for causes that were near and dear to her heart. She had a free spirit in some ways, stepping out from the ordinary from time to time. She was concerned about nutrition and non-traditional health measures. Donna's favorite story: Donna's conservative nature meshed with Leona and the two of them enjoyed comparing notes about nutritional supplements. In fact it was Leona who alerted us on the use of colloidal silver when she expressed concern that my ankle wound wasn't healing and I couldn't sleep in spite of taking pain meds. And all of this was occurring in spite of visits to the wound center...Well,Leona told us of her success story of healing. Donna got the silver out of the cabinet and with the first dose, she was able to sleep and the wound started healing. Later on, the wound center was using silver in their treatments! Blessed be her memory. Sharon and Donna Ocker.
