Beverly Leone Mount, passed away at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls on January 10, 2023. A Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, beginning at 2:00PM. Visitation will be held one hour prior. 

Beverly Leone Mount was born May 9, 1931. In Vermillion, SD. The daughter of Lewis and Hattie (Johnson) Pierce. Beverly graduated from Dewitt high school in Iowa and married Elmer Mount on January 21, 1951, in Vermillion. She worked at the University of South Dakota, Standard Oil of Indiana Research Center in Tulsa, and Central Natural Gas in Vermillion before retiring in 1978. Elmer and Bev also owned Elmer’s bar and then went into the motel business in Vermillion, Nebraska, and Kansas. In 1988 she and Elmer bought the Hallmark store and retired from that and the motel business in the 1990’s.

Bev was an avid reader and always had a crochet project. She and Elmer enjoyed many winters in Mesa Arizona. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church- Vermillion, A life member of the VFW Auxiliary, Senior Citizen Center, and Epsilon Sigma Alpha, of which she served as state president in 1979.

She is survived by her son, Tom of Sioux Falls, SD; Daughters Deborah (Leo) Baumgart, of Sioux Falls, SD and Diana (Bruce) Kocourek of Pipestone, MN; two grandsons, Dustin Baumgart and Nickolas Kocourek; three granddaughters, Nicole Thill, Stacie Sloan, and Stephanie Schneider, 12 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Beverly was kind, compassionate and funny, her infectious smile could light up a room. She was loved very much and will be greatly missed.
