Cheryl Dee Jorgensen,82, of Viborg passed away March 11, 2025, at the Lennox Assisted Living Center in Lennox, SD.
Funeral services will be 10:00am, March 22, 2025, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Viborg, SD. Visitation will begin one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery, Viborg, SD. The family suggests casual dress. Packers jerseys welcomed.
A Celebration Memorial will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the Shore Store beginning at 12:00pm.
Cheryl Dee Shafer was born July 7, 1942, to Howard and Genevieve (King) Shafer in Sioux City, Iowa. When Cheryl was 8yrs old, upon her father’s passing, they moved to Rutland, SD where she attended school.
Cheryl married Alan Chronister in 1959. Alan passed away in 1983.
She married Steve Jorgensen July 2, 1988. They moved to Swan Lake in 1988, where they owned and operated the Shore Store. Steve passed away in 1997. Cheryl continued operating the store until 2015. She enjoyed visiting with her many friends that frequented the Shore Store over the years. Cheryl was a diehard Niel Diamond and Packers Fan, which she made very clear.
She is survived by two sons; Mark Chronister of Viborg, Matt Chronister of Sioux Falls, SD, two stepsons Brett (Cathy) Jorgensen and Erik Jorgensen all of Sioux Falls, one sister Bonnie Wosjie of Sioux Falls. Also, four grandchildren; Chris (Stephanie) Chronister, Chad Chronister, both of Sioux Falls, Dayna Hossle of Springfield, MO, Emily Chronister of Knoxville, TN, four great-grandchildren; Colin and Grant Chronister and Payzli and Brock Hossle and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Alan Chronister and Steve Jorgensen, and one son Mike Chronister.
