Glennys Mae Hansen (Madsen), 84, of Irene, SD passed away with her family by her side on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.
Glennys was born august 15, 1935 in rural Viborg, to Randolph and Lillie (Sorensen) Madsen. She attended Lowell Country School in Yankton County and graduated from Viborg High School in 1953. She then attended college in Chicago and returned to South Dakota to work various jobs in the Irene area. Her favorite job was being a full time Grandma.
Glennys married Duane J. Hansen on October 15, 1955 at Elim Lutheran Church, to this marriage four children were born; Dianna, Tamra, Lonnie and Geno. Glennys loved spending time with her family and friends. She beamed with joy when she spent time with her grandchildren. She loved to travel, camp with friends, and play cards. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary for many years.
Glennys is survived by daughter Dianna (Steve) Uhrich of Hastings, NE, sons; Lonnie (Lisa) Hansen of Glendale, AZ, Geno Hansen of Irene, SD, brother LaValle (Pat) Madsen of Racine, WI, sister Renaye (George) Sees of Mission Hill, SD, also grandchildren; Scott, Shawn, Amanda, Valerie, Audrey, Daniel, Lonnie, Mckenzie, Kaylee, Ashlee; 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Duane J. Hansen, parents; Randolph and Lillie, sister Lila Ferguson, infant daughter Tamra, brother-in-law Dennis Hansen, and sister-in-law Marlene Hansen.
