Jean Ann Prosser, 93, of Vermillion, SD passed away peacefully November 7th at the Sanford Health Vermillion Care Center.
Jean Ann (Maltby) Prosser was born on November 16, 1930. Following the death of her birth mother, she was adopted by George and Harriet Maltby of Alexandria, SD. Jean Ann attended school in Alexandria and graduated from high school in 1948. She also attended Nettleton Commercial College in Sioux Falls.
On October 20, 1950, she married James B. Prosser. Jean Ann was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed raising her three sons. She was also an active member of First Methodist Church in Vermillion as well as a dedicated member of Eastern Star. She was employed at the Clay County Courthouse for many years and later worked for the Vermillion school system as a cook and server. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and especially growing roses. She loved sharing her baked goods, garden vegetables and flowers with her friends and family.
Jean Ann is survived by her three sons, Michael (Linda) Prosser of Sioux City, IA, Gary (Sheila) Prosser of Vermillion, SD and David (Laura) Prosser of Sturgis, SD, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Prosser, her parents, an infant daughter and one grandchild.
