Norman Shedd, 83, of Elk Point, SD passed away Saturday, October 22 at the Alcester Care & Rehab Center.
Norman was born April 1, 1939 in Elk Point to Elton and Evelyn (Quam) Shedd. He graduated from Elk Point High School and married Patty Ferdig on August 12, 1957 in Spink, SD. They made their home and raised their four children on a farm two miles south of Spink.
Norman spent most of his life farming with his wife Patty who passed in 2018. In his retirement he worked for the University of South Dakota.
Norman enjoyed talking to everyone he met. He also loved to golf and spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Grateful for sharing his life are his children; two daughters, Deb (Mike) Henriksen of Harrisburg, SD and their children: Maren (Michael), JD (Megan). Amy (Roger) Palmer of Mellette, SD and their children: Nathan and Hannah (Kyle). A son Mark (Teresa) Shedd of Alcester, a daughter-in-law Eileen Shedd and her children: Nick (Audrey), Paul (Elizabeth), Samantha (Adam). Leslie (Kevin) and 18 great-grandchildren. His sister Lois Matson of Sioux Falls, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Patricia and a son Michael.
Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Friday, October 28 at the Brule Creek Lutheran Church, rural Spink with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 PM Thursday at the church. HansenFuneralHome.com.
